Glenn Johnson and Phoebe Craig Johnson are the resident experts, responsible for turning out consistently well prepared and successful riders. Switch Willo is proud to be the home of numerous year end award winners at the local, state, and national level annually.
Phoebe Johnson won numerous championships and year end awards statewide during her years of riding competitively, and was rewarded by being an alternate for the United States Equestrian Team in 1969. Since retiring from competitive riding in 1972, Phoebe has attended numerous clinics to make sure her students learn from the best. Glenn and Phoebe married in 1973.
Glenn Johnson began his career at Switch Willo Stables in 1968. Among the many highlights of his career are having been written up in Sports Illustrated for his numerous wins aboard Cricket in Puissance (high jump) classes, where they cleared 7' or just under many times; being an alternate for the United States Equestrian Team for the Pan American Games in 1973; and his two years with Simple Simon, where their record of being champion at virtually every show they attended led to a reserve national title, and championships at the year end indoor shows at Harrisburg, Washington D.C., and Madison Square Garden. Glenn continues to ride professionally at shows for Switch Willo customers and other stables and trainers, statewide and nationally, as well as handling training duties and boarder schooling whenever he is home between shows.
